Bandai Namco has announced the unfortunate shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has been a beloved part of many players' mobile gaming experience.
When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?
The official date for the PAC-MAN Mobile shutdown is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued since April 1st, 2025. If you're among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day on May 30th.
The community has voiced significant disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to completely shut down the game rather than offering an offline version. Many players feel that an offline mode would have been a satisfactory compromise, potentially generating some revenue for the company while keeping the game accessible.
This iteration of PAC-MAN, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, alongside a rich Story Mode featuring a variety of original mazes. The Adventure Mode introduced limited-time themed events, allowing players to unlock exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode featured weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and the game offered numerous customization options for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.
The Reason
The decision to shut down the game comes after years of accumulating bugs and issues, which likely played a significant role in the decision. The initial years following its launch on Android were filled with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, creating a vibrant community around the game.
If you're looking to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
