Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have just announced a thrilling new addition to the beloved franchise: "Avatar: Seven Havens." To mark the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender, creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are bringing us a fresh 26-episode, 2D animated series centered around a young Earthbender destined to become the next Avatar after Korra.
Set in a world shattered by a cataclysmic event, "Avatar: Seven Havens" introduces us to a new Avatar who faces a daunting challenge. Unlike her predecessors, this young Earthbender is seen as a harbinger of destruction rather than salvation. Hunted by both human and spirit foes, she must join forces with her long-lost twin to unravel their mysterious origins and protect the Seven Havens from total collapse.
In their statement, DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their excitement about expanding the Avatar universe, saying, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
"Avatar: Seven Havens" will be divided into two seasons, with a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13-episode Book 2. The series is being co-created by DiMartino and Konietzko, alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast has yet to be revealed, anticipation is already building.
This series marks the first mainline TV project from Avatar Studios, who are also busy developing a full-length animated movie featuring an adult Aang. Set for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, this movie promises to take fans on another epic adventure.
As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, Avatar Studios is rolling out a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a game on Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty to celebrate and explore in the Avatar universe.
