Atelier Resleriana's End-of-Service Announcement: A Year of Alchemy Ends March 28th

Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global launch. All services will cease on March 28th, with in-app purchases ending earlier on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the shutdown to allow players to enjoy the remaining time.

The developers cited an inability to maintain their intended standards as the reason for the closure. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, they determined that continued operation was unsustainable. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, but purchasing more is no longer possible.

This news may not be entirely unexpected for many players. The highly competitive gacha market makes it difficult for new titles to gain traction. While Atelier Resleriana showcased promising concepts, it faced challenges in several key areas.

Criticism centered around gacha rates and banner systems, hindering player progression. The alchemy mechanics, a hallmark of the Atelier series, failed to deliver the expected level of creative engagement. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the captivating elements needed to compete effectively within the genre.

Atelier Resleriana faced significant hurdles from its launch, and the game's eventual closure may have been foreseeable. Requests for an offline version have flooded social media, though the likelihood of this happening remains low. Players are encouraged to enjoy the remaining time with the turn-based RPG before its final curtain call.
