Alan Wake 2 has surpassed an impressive milestone, selling over 2 million copies worldwide. This is a significant jump from the 1.3 million copies sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period during which developer Remedy celebrated the horror sequel as their fastest-selling game to date.
In their most recent financial report shared with investors, Remedy highlighted that Alan Wake 2 has not only achieved this sales milestone but has also benefited from the launch of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. These developments have enabled the game to start generating royalties, having successfully covered its development and marketing expenses.
Looking forward, Remedy is gearing up for the future with exciting projects. The studio announced that Control 2, developed in collaboration with Annapurna, is nearing the end of its production readiness phase and is set to enter full production by the end of February 2025. Alongside, the Max Payne 1&2 Remake is also progressing well in its full production stage.
Additionally, FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer spin-off of Control, remains in full production following a successful closed technical test in December. This test allowed external players to evaluate matchmaking and back-end services. Although no specific release date has been set, FBC: Firebreak is slated for a self-published launch later in 2025.
Remedy's CEO, Tero Virtala, expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction, stating, "We are in a great place to begin our strategy period and have set targets we are confident in reaching."
In IGN's review of Alan Wake 2, the game received a stellar 9/10 score. IGN praised it as a "superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
