The cards we're showcasing today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, integrated within the larger main set. These cards are reprints of existing Magic: The Gathering cards, reimagined with captivating concept art and iconic characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those featured in the recently revealed Commander decks, they offer a nostalgic journey through the series' artistic history, dating back to the first Final Fantasy game.

Unlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards aren't legal in Magic's Standard format, serving primarily as alternate art versions of existing cards. However, you can find them in both the premium Collector Boosters and in one out of every three regular Play Boosters, which are perfect for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll likely encounter these cards regularly. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of Lightning Bolt, one of Magic's most iconic cards, and could significantly influence the set's dynamics.
The Warrior of Light reprint of Jodah, the Unifier, is set to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and widely used Commander, and the art here comes directly from Amano's work on the Japanese boxart of the original Final Fantasy. Similarly, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before this set.
These cards will be available in physical form as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan new to Magic, there's plenty to get excited about. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted that Sephiroth's design on one card has been altered for a mysterious reason, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this already thrilling collaboration.
