Great news for Android gamers! Sid Meier's Civilization VI is receiving a significant content update, finally aligning the mobile version with its PC and console counterparts. This major patch, scheduled for June 12, delivers a wealth of new units, maps, and features.
New Units, Maps, Modes, and a Bunch of Fixes
Developer Aspyr is releasing this substantial update to provide a more comprehensive Civ VI experience for mobile players. The game welcomes three new military units. First is the Trebuchet, a powerful Medieval-era siege weapon that represents a major upgrade from the Catapult and later evolves into the Bombard.
Next is the Man-At-Arms, which advances from the Swordsman and paves the way for the Musketman. The Industrial era also gains the Line Infantry, a unit that follows the Musketman and eventually becomes the modern Infantry.
Your strategic options expand with the new Mediterranean Large Map and the Earth Huge Map. Both feature more authentic terrain and resource distributions. Each map also includes a dedicated scenario that allows you to begin the game from the historical capital of your selected civilization.
New gameplay modes add fresh challenges. The Tech and Civic Shuffle Mode randomizes technological and civic advancements within their respective eras, creating unique research paths for every game. The Barbarian Clans Mode overhauls the Barbarian mechanic, replacing standard tribes with seven distinct clans that can, over time, develop into full-fledged City-States.
Beyond new units, two highly requested features are arriving: the Natural Wonder Picker and the City-State Picker. These tools give you direct control over which wonders and city-states appear in your game world.
Additionally, the new Leader Selection Pool lets you curate your opponents from a pre-selected list of leaders, which now includes the formidable Julius Caesar.
Civilization VI Android Is Bringing Two New Passes Alongside All Units and Maps
The June 12th update includes even more content. Android users can now purchase the New Frontier Pass and the Leader Pass. The New Frontier Pass is priced at $29.99 and introduces eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, and six additional game modes.
The Leader Pass, available for $19.99, adds 12 new leaders to the roster along with six new personas for existing classic leaders. These expansions have been highly anticipated on the platform after their release on other systems.
