The video game movie genre has been notorious for its share of disappointments. Classics like the 1993 film "Super Mario Bros." and the 1997 release "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" have become infamous for their inability to capture the essence of their beloved source material. Hollywood's persistence is commendable, and while the bar has been set quite low, it's challenging to produce anything worse than some of the genre's most notorious flops.
