Clash of Clans’ largest matchmaking overhaul is here
- Ranked, Casual, and Revenge modes are all getting major upgrades
- Dive into endless casual battles, compete in Ranked, or exact sweet revenge—all within 12 hours
Monday might feel dull for many, but not for Clash of Clans players! One of the biggest matchmaking updates in the game’s history has just dropped. Supercell’s latest update brings a significant revamp to Casual mode, the return of the Revenge button, and fresh enhancements to Ranked battles.
We’ve already highlighted the Revenge button’s comeback, but now there’s more to uncover. If you’re attacked while your Magic Shield is active, you’ll have 12 hours to strike back at a snapshot of your opponent’s village. You’ll recover at least the gold and resources you lost—and possibly earn even more.
Casual battles have also been completely reimagined. No more limits—you can now fight as many battles as you like. The new Magic Shield will trigger automatically if at least 30% of your loot is stolen in a single attack.

Absolutely barbaric
More than a decade after its launch, it’s refreshing to see Clash of Clans’ core systems getting a meaningful update. This new matchmaking revamp is sure to delight longtime players who still dive into the game day after day.
But that’s not all—Ranked battles are getting a boost too. Each week brings a new tournament with specific attack and defense targets. It’s very much like Legend League, and your ranking bonus from that mode will now carry over into regular battles as well. All told, these changes are shaping up to be a much-needed refresh, even if the update has had a few rough edges.
