by Ryan May 05,2025

Dell has recently updated the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs, and now you have more options than just the RTX 5080. Starting immediately, you can configure your Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, with prices starting at $5,499.99. The best part? You won't have to wait long, as Dell promises an early April ship date.

The base configuration for the Alienware Area-51 with the RTX 5090 GPU is priced at $5,500, and it comes with impressive specs. You get an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivers exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't offer the significant uplift we hoped for compared to the i9-14900K, it's currently the best Intel has to offer. The system is cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design, while similar to the 2024 R16 system, has been updated with aesthetic and cooling enhancements. The I/O panel is now at the top of the case, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel. Air intakes are located at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design to keep the interior less dusty. The internal components have been refreshed with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU available. Nvidia's focus on software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology enhances gameplay, yet the 5090 also provides a 25%-30% boost in raw raster performance over the RTX 4090. It comes with 32GB of faster GDDR7 VRAM compared to the 4090's 24GB GDDR6. Due to high demand, finding the RTX 5090 at retail price is challenging, with prices on eBay ranging from $3,500 to $4,000.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, though the generational uplift is modest. In traditional non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest improvements we've seen recently. However, DLSS 4 significantly boosts performance in supported games, with 75% of frames generated by AI."
