Amazon has unveiled Alexa+, a new version of its popular voice assistant, now available in Early Access. Powered by generative AI, Alexa+ promises a more natural and engaging conversational experience. According to Amazon, "Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done." This upgraded assistant is designed to handle a broader range of tasks seamlessly, from managing your to-do list and checking your calendar to booking restaurant reservations.
Currently, Alexa+ is in Early Access and can only be experienced on specific Echo Show devices: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or plan to purchase one of these devices, you can sign up for notifications about Early Access availability by following the link below. Once the Early Access phase concludes, Alexa+ will become a free benefit for Amazon Prime members, or available to non-Prime members for $19.99 per month.

However, not all devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older generation Echo devices such as the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to use the original Alexa. Amazon has announced plans to expand Alexa+ compatibility to include Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com in the near future.
