May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie

by Ellie May 02,2025

Rumors are swirling that the chilling teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, might be available as a free download for PlayStation Plus members in May 2025. While Sony has yet to confirm this, the leaked key art hints at the Until Dawn Remastered rather than the original 2014 version. We'll keep you updated with the latest as soon as we get official word from Sony.

PlayStation Plus is a premier online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering a suite of benefits including monthly free games, exclusive trials, online multiplayer, and special member discounts. Subscribers to the Extra and Premium tiers also enjoy access to a vast library of current and classic games, while the monthly free games are accessible to all members, regardless of their subscription level.

The PlayStation subreddit community, as noted by PushSquare, speculates that this potential addition of Until Dawn to the PlayStation Plus lineup could be tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie. Our review at IGN was less than enthusiastic, giving the movie a 5/10, describing it as "more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

The Until Dawn Remastered from 2024 received a similar lukewarm reception, earning a 5/10 from us, where we labeled it as "an overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 release by Supermassive Games was more favorably reviewed, securing a 7.5/10.

In other PlayStation Plus news, a total of 22 games are slated to be removed from the service next month. Notable titles on the chopping block include Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the first-party classics Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This marks the end of the road for Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 on modern consoles, making them unavailable for play.
