Apple Officially Renews Severance for Season 3

by Emily May 03,2025

Apple has officially greenlit Season 3 of the hit series *Severance*, created by Ben Stiller and Dan Erickson. This sci-fi psychological thriller has become the most popular show on Apple TV+, with its recently concluded second season setting a record as the most-watched series on the platform. For a detailed take on the latest season, don't miss IGN's review of *Severance* Season 2.

Ben Stiller, who directs and produces the series, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Making *Severance* has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Adam Scott, star and executive producer, expressed his eagerness to return, saying, “I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple, and the whole *Severance* team. Oh hey also - not a huge deal - but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

Apple's official synopsis for *Severance* reads: "In *Severance*, Mark Scout (Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself. In Season 2, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe. Season 2 welcomes new series regulars Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson."

While a release date for Season 3 remains undisclosed, Ben Stiller reassured fans on the *New Heights* podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce that the wait won't be as long as the three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2. "No, the plan is not to [wait three years]," Stiller said. "Definitely not. Hopefully, we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon. That will not be that!” He attributed the delay between seasons to the writers’ and actors’ strike and the extensive shooting and editing process, which took 186 days for Season 2.
